Markets

There are several weekly markets in Basel:
Central market on Marktplatz
The central market is a bright and colourful affair, where fresh produce, delicatessen and seasonal specialties can be bought every day. There are also flowers, bread and some craft to be bought. The market has an old tradition and is particularly attractive, because it is right in the middle of a busy shopping district.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6.00-19.00
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 6.00-13.30
Every second and last Saturday of the month until 18.00.
Trade market on Barfüsserplatz
Every Thursday you will find all kinds of products on Barfüsserplatz: jewellery, craft from all over the world, delicatessen, clothes and good food for every taste. Barfüsserplatz is a central square in the old city centre, surrounded by good cafes and restaurants.
Thursdays 7.00-20.00
Flea market on Petersplatz
The flea market on Petersplatz is a popular hang out for aficionados of second hand stuff. You can find everything from real antiques to baby clothes, and most things are really cheap. Stalls can be booked online. At the centre of the square, there is room for children to sell their toys for free.
Saturday 7.30-16.00
Sunday market in the Erlenmatt
There is also a Sunday flea market: easy, spontaneous, cosy. Browse around and enjoy a nice meal afterwards. All this is happening on NT-Areal in Kleinbasel, where a whole new residential are will be developed. More.
