Excellent transport infrastructure

Basel's central location in Europe is the basis for quick connections to foreign locations near and far. And investments are being continually made in the high-quality infrastructure – a tri-national airport, a European transport hub at the interface between three national railway networks, a major hub for the motorways to France, Germany and the south.
But the City and Region of Basel also has a very dense public transport network. The first environmental (monthly) travel card (Umweltabonnement) in Europe now permits the use of all public transport in North-west Switzerland at an advantageous price, and has greatly promoted the use of public transport.
And, last but not least, the bicycle-friendly city is also the starting point of a bicycle network that covers the whole region. In all directions. More and more street surfaces that are appropriate for disabled people are appearing in the city, and a coexistence of pedestrians, pedestrians, public and private transport that is as conflict-free as possible has been aimed at in Basel for many years.
