There are several weekly markets in Basel:
The City Market (Stadtmarkt) on the Marktplatz
The Stadtmarkt on the Marktplatz is not only a colourful event on sunny days, where delicacies and specialties are available in abundance. These include vegetables and fruit, flowers, meat, mushrooms, honey, wine, coffee, dried products, bread, craft products, tea and much more. The Stadtmarkt has been in existence for a very long time, and is embedded at the heart of an exclusive business area. In the market in front of the Basel Town hall ( Rathaus), gourmets can find delicacies and specialties from the region, from Switzerland and from all over the world. The traditional fresh produce market is also characterised by customer proximity and personal advice.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.
Every second and last Saturday in the month up to 6 p.m.
Neuwarenmarkt (New Goods market) on the Barfüsserplatz
The Barfüsserplatz is located in the centre of the city, and is surrounded by many first-class shops and cozy bistros. The Neuwarenmarkt is the ideal place for errands of all types: jewellery, craft work from all around the world, decorations, delicatessen and clothes are just a few examples of the foods on offer. Food and drink is also available with numerous food options.

Flea market on the Barfüsserplatz
The Wednesday flea market takes place on the Barfüsserplatz twice a month during the week. Against the backdrop of the picturesque old town, its range of rare and precious items is a real gem for any market fan. Applications from people interested in selling things can be made every Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tel. +41 (0)61 267 70 43.

Stalls for the flea markets on the Barfüsserplatz and on the Petersplatz can be reserved over the Internet.
Flea market on the Petersplatz
The flea market on the Petersplatz is a popular Saturday meeting point for all those who love second-hand goods. From fine antiques to dungarees for the little ones, there is everything here that you could need for everyday life – at extremely favourable prices. Children can sell their old toys free-of-charge in the centre of the square. Reservations for places can be made on-line or at the counter (more information is available on www.messen-maerkte.bs.ch).

Weekly market on the Meret Oppenheim-Platz, SBB RailCity Basel
This market organised by the Art & Food Management makes it possible for commuters to buy fresh food longer throughout the day and the evening. The residents of the Gundeli and Bruderholz districts have found this market to be a new and attractive meeting place. The goods on offer range from freshly baked wood-oven bread and confectionery through Swiss cheese and sausages up to and including Greek specialities. International dishes are available to satisfy the inner man and woman. More

Saturday market on the Matthäusplatz
Kleinbasel lives! A neighbourhood market has taken place on Saturdays on the newly designed Matthäusplatz since 2006, at which regional food is sold. 80 percent of the goods on offer originate from the vendor’s cultivation or their own production. Within a short time, the Matthäusmarkt has become a popular meeting point in Kleinbasel. Resplendent seasonal markets are also welcome in the spring, summer, autumn and winter. Saturday market on the Vogesenplatz by the St. Johann railway station
The St. Johannsmarkt has taken place on the Vogesenplatz, in the newly designed St. Johannsquartier since November 2010. The goods on offer range from vegetables and fruit from the region, through cakes and pastries from the district, sausages, cheese and wine, up to and including flowers and pot plants. Saturday market on the Tellplatz
A market spectacle on the Tellplatz in the «Gundeli»: The goods offered by the market are very varied every week, fresh and invite you to shop and enjoy the food. In addition to seasonal goods from local farms, the market also offers sausage and cheese specialities, baked goods and jam, as well as a wide range of flowers. More

Sunday market on the Erlenmatt
This market for second-hand and new goods, fresh produce and food takes place on the Erlenmatt every Sunday from February to November.
