Swiss Exhibition: The leading fairs and congress organisation in Switzerland
Swiss Exhibition is one of the leading live marketing
companies
in Europe. The Swiss Exhibition consortium has been founded in 2001 by the merger of the former exhibition
companies in Basel and Zurich. Since 1 July 2005 the Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG in Wohlen (AG)
has also joined the group.
Swiss
Exhibition's core business consists
in creating marketing platforms and solutions by organizing specialized and public fairs and exhibitions
of national or international character.Costumers are backed up be Swiss Exhibition or competent partners
with all services needed in view of participating as exhibitor or assisting as visitor.
The
exhibition portfolio of Swiss Exhibition comprises 25 exhibitions to be conceived, organized and carried
out by its proper means. With the World Watch and Jewellery Show BASELWORD and the international art
fairs Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach, Swiss Exhibition is worldwide the most important exhibition
organizer in these branches. Various other own exhibitions such as Igeho, Swisstech, Swissbau and so
on also have a strong international impact and rank amongst the most important events on the European
exhibition scene. And on national level, most of the events organized by Swiss Exhibition are the most
important in their segments.
In both Basel and Zurich, a yearly total
of 40 to 50 own and guest exhibitions take place, involving about 15,000 exhibiting companies and generating
more than 1.5 million visitors, and yearly line up more than 250 conventions and diverse events.
Swiss
Exhibition also rents out its facilities in Basel and Zurich to independent fair and exhibition, convention
and event promoters. Both exhibition grounds total up an exhibition area of some 195,000 square meters
(162,000 in Basel and 33,000 in Zurich). In Basel, Swiss Exhibition is owner of and runs the Congress
Center Basel and is also owner of the Musical Theater Basel. In Zurich, Swiss Exhibition is responsible
for the maintenance of Theater 11. Both theatres are run by a professional partner.
With
the takeover of Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik AG, in summer 2005, Swiss Exhibition broadened its existing
business portfolio with the close to its core business standing field of event services. Winkler Veranstaltungstechnik
AG ranks in its industry amongst the largest companies in Europe and is world-wide active.
MCH
Swiss Exhibition (Holding) Ltd. is a joint-stock company with participation of public authorities. The
Cantons of Basel-City, Basel-Country and Zurich as well as the City of Zurich hold together 49 % of
the share capital of CHF 48 million and are accordingly represented in the Board of Directors. The holding
company is quoted on the Local Caps segment of the SWX Swiss Exchange.
From
2001 to 2004, Swiss Exhibition generated CHF 184 million in average revenue, CHF 32.8 million in cash
flow and CHF 5.6 million in group benefit. Swiss Exhibition employs in total some 350 full time employees
and about 1,000 part time employees and casual workers.
On the Swiss
exhibition scene, Swiss Exhibition shows a market share (result) of around two thirds. The economic
value resulting from Swiss Exhibition's activities amounts to an annual total of about CHF 2 billion.
