Merian Park
The spacious
and colourful grounds of Merian Park Botanical Gardens
in Brüglingen are an oasis of peace, relaxation and recreation. Located just a short distance from the
city centre, the park with its numerous historical buildings is an excellent location for a wide variety
of events.
A stroll though the wonderful botanical collections,
fascinating biotopes and carefully-tended grounds of the park is sufficient to banish the stress of
everyday life, step by lawn-cushioned step; a sense of calm soon prevails. You can also enjoy precisely
this atmosphere at social, business or cultural events. What marks out the numerous unusual buildings
within this historical setting is not just their stylish atmosphere, but also the infrastructure that
turns every event into a special experience. Irrespective of which building is chosen by event organisers,
at Merian Park hosts can be sure of selecting a location with a unique appeal. A location which helps
make every event a memorable success. Merian Park can be reached with ease by public transport. Outstanding
cuisine is also available: an exquisite restaurant is located in the gardens' historic Villa Merian,
the one-time summer seat of the founder, Christoph Merian.
The two-storey
farm building, the "museum barn", is an imposing structure. The spacious, high-ceilinged Holzsaal
(Wooden Hall) is located on the upper storey of this building, which was built in 1905. The historical
hall, richly decorated with tub plants, exudes a very special atmosphere and forms an exceptional and
impressive setting for parties, concerts or even corporate events (up to 300 persons).
The
great profusion of plants in the two capacious greenhouses creates a unique atmosphere. The translucence
of the greenhouses creates a particularly intensive proximity to the natural world, while the technical
equipment ensures the required security. From June to October these can be hired out for parties, concerts
or even exhibitions (up to 100 persons).
The Orangery, which was built
around 1850 in the Neo-Renaissance style, and which is an excellent vantage point from which to admire
the approx. 450 plant species in the pharmacological garden, is without doubt the gem amongst the buildings
at Merian Park. Stylish rooms with round arches and friezes with rosettes adorn the elevated central
section, which is flanked by two lower side wings. While the Orangery was used originally to house Mediterranean
plants during the winter months, today it hosts more sophisticated activities: it is now an elegant
setting for smart parties and festivities, exhibitions, concerts and lectures (up to 100 persons).
The
atmosphere in this farm building, which was built in 1837, is thoroughly bucolic. Originally used as
horse stables, today the space can be used to host wonderful parties or to hold lectures in a relaxed
setting (up to 60 persons).
The tenant building was built in 1839 in
Florentine Renaissance style. During the comprehensive renovation which was completed in 1997, a conference
room was created on the top floor. This is ideal for lectures, courses, seminars and project work. The
conference room, with its venerable wooden beams and natural charm, is likely to make almost any work
easier (up to 100 persons).
