Gundeldinger Feld
At the very heart
of the Gundeldinger Quartier lies the 12'700
m2 site of the former "Sulzer-Burckhardt" engineering works. Since November 2000 the site
has been given an extremely innovative and varied new lease of life. With its impressive building structures
and its established in-house catering facilities, the Gundeldinger Feld represents an exciting venue
for events of all kinds.
Centrally
located, directly behind the
Hauptbahnhof (Main Railway Station), the Gundeldinger Feld is well-served by public transport. In addition,
there is a spacious multi-storey car park in the immediate vicinity.
Two
huge factory sheds form the actual heart of this industrial site, which extends over some 12'700 square
metres; these are relics of the days when machines and piston compressors set the tone here. This era
is now long past; today the sounds that are to be heard on the site are very different. Nowadays this
newly-established cultural and social centre at the heart of the Gundeldinger Quartier is already a
metaphor for an exciting multicultural environment.
About half of the
Basilika Hall, dating from the year 1890, with its charming wood and steel supports is currently available
for use (approx. 800 m2), and contains an in-house restaurant and bar. It is 35 metres long and 25 metres
wide, and offers space for about 200 people. It is equipped with hot-air heating, its own toilet amenities,
west-facing and east-facing windows, skylights and corresponding water and electrical connections. The
event zones and the catering zones in this hall deliberately overlap.
The
second hall (Hall 7) dating from the year 1930, with its generous dimensions (length 85 metres, width
15 metres, height 12 metres) and its extremely impressive spatial atmosphere likewise offers a special
forum and venue for events of all kinds. With its size, unique architectural concept and flexible seating
concept, Hall 7 can accommodate 500 individuals with ease.
Technical
equipment is also available for hire. Major cultural and social events of all kinds are possible, as
are exhibitions, customer events, shows, fashion shows, concerts and annual general meetings. For noise
prevention reasons, only disco and music events are no longer possible after 10 p.m. Apart from this,
however, there is no occasion or event concept which cannot be realised here.
