Das Schiff (“The Ship”)
at the Port of Basel has hosted culinary,
club, concert and exhibition culture ever since May 2005. The financially self-supporting and subsidy-free
company Tiefgang AG, which is closely linked to the movers and shakers behind the “Grenzwert-Bar”, presents
a unique platform for innovative, alternative cultural events. A meeting place for gourmets, night-owls,
creative types and music-lovers on three decks.
The
main deck contains
a restaurant with a focus on European cuisine as well as a bar/lounge with a South-Sea touch. Carefully-prepared
dinners in a unique setting are available here, along with a cosy and stylish bar. During the summer
months (and whenever the weather is sufficiently clement), the restaurant and bar on the main deck also
spill out onto the open deck, where good food, drinks, parties and conviviality can be celebrated under
the stars.
The lower deck is dedicated to music. In addition to an exhibition
room, the club and concert room present musical treats of the widest possible variety. From driving
electronic to playfully analogue music, from disk jockeys to major live bands, the successful aim of
the line-ups presented here is to encourage clubbers to spend their evenings in the Port of Basel instead
of in Zurich or Berne...
