National Day Celebration on the Rhine 2012
Following tradition, the National Day Celebration on the Rhine takes place in Basel on the 31st July 2012, one day before the National Day Celebration. Since the National Day Celebration was moved forward to the 31st July in 1993, the event has continued to develop, and is now the largest, regularly occurring city festival in Basel. Once again, a colourful programme awaits the visitors from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., including performances both on the Rhine and on land. 90 festival booths, will ensure the unique atmosphere of the national day celebration on the Rhine, with a wide range of food to meet every culinary desire.
The firework display is always the great highlight, and starts from two boats to the left and right of the middle bridge at exactly 11.00 p.m. Up to 120,000 spectators can be expected in good weather. The Federal Celebration on the Rhine workgroup therefore advises all visitors to make use of public transport, and look forward to a marvellous celebration.
