STIMMEN (Voices) Festival

Zaz, Clueso, Loreena McKennitt and Lenny Kravitz – these are the big names of this year’s STIMMEN festival. But, in addition to the “stars”, it also presents its own productions, original festival projects and special themes, musical discoveries and surprises. From the 11th July to the 6th August 2012, for the 19th time, the STIMMEN Festival presents outstanding representatives and ensembles of vocal and choral music spanning time and styles. Whether top stars from rock and pop music, classical and jazz singing, or well-known ensembles from the region and the whole world – STIMMEN is a unique homage to the power and beauty of the human voice.

“The Freedom of many Voices” is the title of the festival programme this year. The wide stylistic arch connects many different styles, but also – as in previous years – architecture and music. The selection of special concert locations in the region (such as the Theater Augusta Raurica, the medieval monastery and contemporary music centre Les Dominicains in Guebwiller, the Burghof or the landscape around Lörrach) was always a hallmark of STIMMEN.
