More attractive area to live in
Whether the St. Jakob Tower with its view over green fields, loft apartments in the Gundeli, trendy living on the Voltastrasse or at a prime location on the Bruderholz – Basel has greatly expanded its range of attractive living space. Nevertheless, the preconception that Basel has no attractive living space still stubbornly remains widespread. The City marketing has therefore invested in advertising campaigns in order to change Basel’s image as a place to live. The Canton and City Development section of the Department of Presidential Affairs continues these efforts today. In doing this, Basel does not concentrate on the region alone. The real estate marketing services also assists the personnel departments of major international companies, as well as the so-called «Relocation Agencies», to convince expats about the advantages of the living space of Basel. The Department of Presidential Affairs also organised welcoming and information events for people moving to Basel from abroad, for example, on the subject of taxation. Last but not least, the annual investor forum of the Canton and City Development is increasing the attraction of the city for investors.
