The 'Gymnasium Leonhard' and 'High School Affiliated to Fudan University' partner schools

The Basel Gymnasium Leonhard, which offers Chinese as an optional subject for all secondary school pupils from Basel, now has a partner school in Shanghai. Rector ZHENG Fang Xian visited Basel with a delegation in February 2011 and, together with Roger Morger, rector of the Gymnasium Leonhard, signed a partnership agreement. The two schools will be organising a student exchange programme in the future.

The Chinese partner school is a very well-known institution in Shanghai, and has a large network of contacts throughout the world. It is a great honour for the Basel school to be included in this group of partners.

This is already the Gymnasium Leonhard’s second partnership with a Chinese school. There has been a partnership with the Middle School No. 1 in Yantai, in the Peoples’ Republic of China, since 1998, which is expressed through pen-pal contacts and exchange visits.
